Lion's Head can be reached within fifteen minutes from the city and the summit can be reached within an hour.
Lion's Head has Table Mountain as its backdrop and is situated in one of the smallest but richest floral kingdoms in the world.
Hiking Lion's Head for sunset is a Captonian tradition. The evening sun often casts a golden glow over the ocean and Cape Town coastline creating a warm and serene ambiance. Then again Hiking Lion's Head at Sunrise create a magical and peacefully atmosphere. The sky changing colors can provide stunning photo opportunities.

What To Expect
The most iconic sight of Cape Town is from the summit of Lion's Head Instagram rock with an Incredible 360 degrees views.
The trail going up Lion’s head is a screw top you’ll be circling the mountain getting to the top getting views in all directions. At one point the path gives way to rough ground and you have to step up using your hands to scramble over rocks. You will then continue steeply upwards to the first ladder, before traversing left along a shelf with a chain handrail. Next, you will continue until you reach a fork, where you will have the choices to veer left to circumnavigate two rock pitches or to turn right and climb the rock pitches. If you are not into vertical rock steps simply continue left, from where you can carry on with the path past some huge stone pine trees to gain the crest of the southeast ridge.

It has Table Mountain as its backdrop and it is situated in the smallest but richest floral kingdoms in the world. Then little by little, the city lights will turn off/on to offer a new sight for our way down you will be provided with a headlamp.
